Both of them are fire fighters, so they are at risk everyday, and Chuck did not want to leave his kids with nothing if something were to happen to him.

The movie Bourne Identity is about a spy Jason Bourne. He failed one of his missions, and gets injured and loses his memory. Because his mission was a failure, the CIA removes all records of him, so they are no associated. Jason attempts to find out who he is, all while on the run. The movie is a great action film.
